Durango
The northern Mexican state of Durango is bordered to the north by the state of Chihuahua, to the west and south-west by Sinaloa and Nayarit, to the south-east and east by the states of Jalisco and Zacatecas, and to the north-east by Coahuila.
The main destinations and attractions in the state of Durango are Durango City, Gomez Palacio, Santiago Papasquiero, and outings to view the vistas of the Devil's Backbone (a ridge of the Sierra Madres) between Durango and the coastal state of Sinaloa.
Durango is well-known for scorpions - scorpion souveniers can be found with the insect embedded in resin and plastic, made into key chains and good luck charms, hot pads and belt buckles.
Durango is a ranching and agricultural state. Regional produce grown here includes wheat, corn, sorghum, and other vegetables. It is also a producer of lumber and minerals from the Sierra.
