Michoacan Weather
Due to it's topography, the State of Michoacan has a wide range of climatic conditions.
As in all of Mexico, the rainy season is in the summer months. The average temperature in the tropical coastal areas is about 28ºC. Even in the height of the hottest seasons, the Michoacan coast can waft up cool breezes along the waterside after dark.
In the central, higher areas of the state the average temperature hovers around 22ºC. Nights can be cold and freezing in the mountains around Pátzcuaro, Angangueo and Zitácuaro in the winter months. The sun is strong and direct in the highlands and the best way to deal with the climate when travelling in those areas is to layer clothing that will allow you to peel it off as the sun rises higher in the sky during the morning ours, then layer it back on as soon as the sun disappears behind the hills or clouds in the late afternoon.
