Deep sea fishing, whale watching and surfing are also favorite pastimes on this beautiful area of the coast.

The beachside restaurants at Punta de Mita offer fresh seafood and refreshing drinks; there are surf shops, rental of snorkeling and diving equipment, tours by boat and horseback riding.

Punta de Mita has been slated for some major development catering to international tourism, and this plan includes the construction of five luxury hotels, a number of elegrant residential communities and three championship golf courses. The Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course is located at the Four Seasons Hotel, a 7,014-yard course which features tropical greenery, stunning landscapes and a unique hole positioned on a small island in the ocean. A 2nd golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, the Four Seasons Punta Mita II Golf Course, is scheduled to open in late 2008. This course will also feature many water features and incredible landscapes and views.

Getting there: Punta Mita is accessible by car (car rentals out of the Puerto Vallarta airport or town rental offices), by taxi or by local bus service. There is a bus stop is across the avenue from the airport.
