Mexico hosts several surfing contests and competitions every year, the most famous of which is probably the Annual International Contest held in Puerto Escondido at the end of November.
There are also a number of smaller contests held in each state which result in the usual prizes and trophies as well as points to become a part of the Mexican National Surfing Team and compete for the World Surfing Championship.
Since this site is based in Guerrero much of this information is about this area though we'd be glad to post information and surf tournament coverage for all of Mainland Mexico.

Copa Las americas Surfing Circuit final event, February 6-8 in Pascuales, Colima
The Mexican Surfing Federation has announced the dates for the final event of the Copa las Americas Surfing circuit, presented by PAWA, on February 6, 7, and 8 at Boca de Pascuales, Tecoman, Colima, one of the country's hollowest and most powerful waves. Surfers will be competing for a purse of a total of $75, 000 pesos distributed among the top 8 finalists in short boarding and $6,000 among the top 3 finalists in bodyboarding.

Mexican Professional Surfing Championships 2008/2009
Event: 5th Stage and the closing of the 1st Circuit of the Mexican Professional Surfing Championships 2008/2009 under the auspices of the Federacion Mexicana de Surfing A.C., and the Asociacion de Surfing del Estados de Colima, A.C.
Date and place: February 6, 7 and 8, 2009, starting 7:00 a.m.
Playa Boca de Pascuales, Tecoman Colima
Requirements: All surfers of any nationality can participate, no age limits; dues must be paid and sign a liability release;
Cost: $500 pesos per competitor per category. Women and participants under 15 years of age receive a 50% discount

Freestyle short board (a $75,000 peso purse to be distributed among the first 8 places)
Freestyle body board (a $6,000 peso purse to distribute between the first 3 places)

Event: 4th Annual Barra Surf Team Tournament in hornor of Jorge Luis Cortez Angelito (Yorco), one of the Acapulco area's best surfers.

Place and time: as of 7 a.m. at Cira La Morena Restaurant, Playa Barra Vieja, Acapulco, Guerrero
The event will be judged by official judges of the A.S.E.G. (State of Guerrero Surfing Association) and will follow all Association rules.

BARRA DE NEXPA, MICHOACAN, April 17-20, 2008
The Mexican National Surfing Championships are being held, under the auspices of the Federación Mexicana de Surfing A.C., (Mexican Surfing Federation), the Asociación de Surfing del Estado de Michoacán A.C. (Michoacan State Surfing Association), the State Government and the Municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas y Aquila, in coordination with the Secretaria de Turismo and the CECUFI, at the popular Michoacan surf spot of Barra de Nexpa in Michoacan, from April 17th through 20th.
